You might have hard time getting a police report if she doesnt pay. Technically you are both at fault for leaving the scene. If she didnt stop, you are to call the police and report it as a hit and run. Because you left before any information was exchanged, if she decides not to pay, she many not be at fault any more. This is atleast how I understand it.

Lesson learned. NEVER leave the scene of an accident. I would have called the cops right then. But, hope it works out for the best. It's amazing how something that looks like not a lot of damage ends up costing $1500. Had the same thing with a certain mailbox in my neighborhood. The most expensive part they replaced was the mirror ($80), then a new antenna ($25), and headlight covers ($70). The rest or the $1200 estimate was for paint and labor....

Always call law enforcement. ALWAYS CALL LAW ENFORCEMENT. Do not claim that you are hurt, unless you are. The SIU departments for insurance companies loves to send fraud investigators to get surveillance on claimants that are not really hurt. I know this because its what I do.

After she pulled a hit and run no way would I have let her out of it without going through insurance. If she gets this all to go away by paying you without the hit to her insurance (and likely loss of her license due to probationary period in most states) then she won't learn anything and keep driving like an idiot.

That said, I can't fault you for trying to be a nice guy, hopefully it all works out for you and nothing goes down wrong. In the future though best bet is always stay at the scene and get the cops there. With the way people act nowadays you always want to make sure your *** is covered.

people are scumbags - a guy i work with got hit by a lady in the parking lot of wally world. she offered him cash to cover the damage to his vehicle (which was really just some paint marking, not even a scratch, really) he jumped on the opportunity to not have to file a claim with insurance.

later that evening, the police showed up at his house. it turns out the woman had written down his plate number and called the cops, claiming that he had hit her car and ran. luckily, there was surveillance footage in the parking lot and he happened to have been hit in an area with decent camera coverage.

at any rate, people suck and you always gotta cover your ***.

I paid cash for the accident I was in with my parents 2k ($1200 for they guys bumper, and $1800 for my parents truck) so it wouldnt go thru insurance. lol

I live in Canada, not the States to. I also didnt want to screw her over for years because of it (her first accident) and have her charged with Hit and run, Fleeing the scene of an Accident, ect.

They paid up $1400, Quoted at $1373.
They have 2 Hours to remove my backrack+Toolbox, Which im going to remove.
Also Im going to remove the mudflaps (as they are gettings replaced) and im telling them not to touch up the mark on the bumper (since the whole things needs painting anyways, why touch up 2 marks)
I might also remove the taillight once I drop it off (since they are repainting the entire bedside it has to come out)
