Default Burned Up Planetary Gears

As many of you know I built up a new 545-RFE transmission and installed it a couple of weeks back. Last Saturday I started taking my old transmission apart to ..........
1. See how it handled 100k of abuse and
2. Maybe rebuild it and sell it.

I found my planetary gears (for 3rd) were burned up. Burned to the point the clutch surface is completely gone.

Wow, I have never seen that. I will say that I'm glad you pulled it when you did

About every six months I would throw a P0700 code and it would go into limp mode. I would change the transmission filters and fluid and it would go away. With what I know now, I think the clutch material was breaking loose and cogging up the tranny filters. It would loose pressure and go to limp mode.

This explains why my 3rd gear pull sucked.
This explains why I only pulled down 308 rwhp on the last dyno.

I have completely gone through the rest of the tranny and can't find anything else wrong with it. The rest of it looks really good.

Wow, good thing you pulled it. Were you experiencing any noticable slipping or revving RPMs?

Nope, I would throw the P0700 code, go into limp mode and change the fluid/filter and it would go away. This would happen about every six months or so.

Marty from the Old KRC watched my dyno vidoes and reviewed my logs from last December and he was the first to suggest it was slipping.

I didn't feel the slipping but that is when I bought the new transmission and started building it up just in case (glad I did). I even bought a new Edge stall converter and send my old one back for a cut and clean. So I have two of them now, lol.

Hopefully the new injectors will be here today or tomorrow because I have to make a 3rd gear pull video for you guys. It's stupid fast compared to the old transmission.

For my 3rd gear pull, yes. I'm hitting max boost in 3rd gear, I've never done that before. If I can get everything done I want to hit the dyno next week before I leave for school in RI. Once tuning is done, back to the track.

That makes two of us. If my injectors get here tomorrow or Saturday I will have to make some WOT videos to send to Hemifever for tuning. I will post a couple of them up when I do. Just hope this rain stops so I have some dry pavement

Plus I need to get a good test of the new Auburn LSD also.
