Help! Can't find trailer lights connector
I just got a almost new 2005 Dakota (only 27873 miles) and want to tow a small trailer. The truck has the tow button on the shifter and a hitch on the frame with a ball in the bumper. The owners manual promises a trailer light connector near the hitch but I can't find anything but a couple of two wire connectors.

My truck didnt come with a harness, but I picked one of these up:

Its direct plug and play and has worked good so far. I used it to hook up my light bar so I didnt have to splice in to any wires. If you do have a trailer harness, you would find it tie wrapped right up under the bed.

If it has a factory tow package it should have a 4 and 7 pin plugs already installed right beside the hitch receiver tube. On mine, the bracket that holds the plugs is part of the hitch. Yours might have an aftermarket hitch.

Not all trucks come with the tow package. The hitch and ball might have been added after the truck left the dealer.
If you can't find the wiring hook-ups, take rengnath's suggestion and pick up a harness like the one in the link they work great.
