Need some help, doing work for a good friend
Hey everyone, I own a 2009 dodge ram, pretty much decked out and familiar with wiring, and everything about the audio world. I have a few questions for the fellow Dakota owners. I have a friend who drives a 2006 Dakota Laramie quad cab, could use some help, he's fought hard with his condition for all his life, and its time to give him something worth his time he has left. My questions are, I'm thinking about putting a single din touchscreen, to make things simpler, because otherwise I would have to cut a few pieces to make a double din fit? How many of you guys have subwoofers under the seats in the back, are they shallow mounts? He has the alpine system that came stock on the truck, what speakers do you guys think would be better than that. for the 6 1/2s. Would really appreciate info from you guys, thanks for any help

I upgraded to Alpine S-series speakers in the doors, as far as subwoofers I got a shallow mount 10 inch Kicker that is mounted in the MTX Thunderform box behind the rear drivers seat.
this is how I mounted my amps under the rear seat

It sounds great, all the bass I could want. I have a ton of pics of how I fabbed up the seat to mount the amps if you want to see them for more of an idea. What really helped tho what the crossover, so I could keep just the freqs from like 90 and below to the sub and any freqs from 80 and up to the 6.5's.

I am using the factory head unit. Had to get an adapter that plugs in the back so I could hook up amps to it. Works really good, only thing is I get a little whistling when I accelerate, but when the radio is up I cant hear it. I was told that if I got an aftermarket head unit or an isolation transformer I can get rid of it, but at the moment its no big deal. I'd have to check the exact model numbers for the amps but one is a 4 channel running over 60 watts RMS (dsnt sound like much, but lemme tell you it is friggan loud!) and the sub amp is a mono that puts out 300 watts RMS. Definitely all I need for inside a small cab. Keep in mind if you notice in the pic of the amps mounted on the bottom left, I had to install a cooling fan under the lip cuz there isnt much air space underneath, but it works awesome, after running the system for over 2 hours I felt them and they were almost cold. Here are the pics from how I did my seat to mount the amps, if you got any specific questions pm me and I can give you my phone number to go over any details. Enjoy...
