Thanks for the advice. I am just starting to peak at the notion of possibly doing some serious engine mods to my truck. The biggest thing that I think is contingent on whether or not I do it is that my truck has almost 90K miles on it. Granted I take good care of her and she runs great. The only way I could justify dropping at least $5,000 into the engine, tranny, and gears is if I knew I was gonna get at least another 100K out of her without being nickel and dimed to death with every other thing that could wear out.

That being said. When it comes to to performance mods I am not partial to strictly going one route or another. Whether it be a Turbo, a Supercharger, or an Engine swap. Mainly because I am far from knowing anything close to enough to know the difference. I just want her to be fast and sound mean as hell (but not obnoxiously loud). I do know that I am enticed by Nitrous kits, if they are worth it. After having thought about it for quite awhile I came to a conclusion, and if my reasoning is incorrect please let me know. I figured it would be best to work backward, in the sense of starting with what is the end result that I want to get. Top speed, 0-60 and 1/4 mile time, and towing capacity. From there I am trying to figure out what would be the most practical and economic way to get there. Right now I am not worried about how much time it would take or labor intensive it would be, because in the near future I will most likely not be driving my truck for about a year and it could sit somewhere in pieces for awhile if need be. Plus, I will be in the position that when I have to take out or replace a part with something stronger and beefier I will have the time to try and sell what was removed to off set the overall cost.

Nitros. U hit the nail in the head.

For under 500 bucks you can set up a Nitros kit on your truck. You will notice more improvement just from the Nitros itself than you will from cold air intake, headers, exhaust and cam work combined, way more.

Of course you are limited to the amount of Nitros left in the bottle.

I definitely recommend it. There is no reason why you can't shoot a 100 shot on ur truck.

90K miles isnt too bad dependidng on the care you give your truck. If you end up taking your engine apart just make sure you clean everything really good, change all gaskets etc.. You got a V8 man!

Thanks bro...I'll have to start doing my research in that direction. I had just always heard that if you were gonna run nitrous that there would be several components that would have to be replaced, just because they wouldn't be able to handle the stress and the sudden boost of HP.

No prob. our trucks should be able to handle a 100 shot with minor modifications.

Got a question for you. Are u running synthetic fluids in your truck. If not that will be a very nice improvement. Yes even on horsepower. Ive been doing synthetic since the 40K miles. I remember watching a show on tv once where they dynoed a car before and after a complete synthetic switch and the results were about 20hp :O

And really don't worry so much about the miles. My next door neighbor has an old *** dodge and keeps it running smooth at nearly 300k. At some point he even ran a 100 shot of nitros( that's why I'm positive it can handle it) Only mods he has are exhaust and headers

I want to point out that this guy treats his dodge like a princess. cleans it and works on it nearly every weekend.

Well, I'm in Ohio so yeah, during the summer that's me, wash n wax every weekend and detailing the engine at least once a month. I figured, if I ended up doing a bunch of mods and refurbishing to the engine with possibly getting a new tranny it'd almost be like having a new truck anyway.
