If disconnecting the battery doesnt clear it up my next guess would be that that short you found my have damaged the SRS module or caused a hard fault in the SRS system. I would recommend getting it looked at professionally. SRS systems can be touchy if you dont know what your doing when your poking around and you dont want to accidentally set off an air bag....

They are either lying to you, or as it is lately unfortunately, the new techs have no clue.

Like I said before disconnecting either positive OR negative battery cables will have the same effect on the truck. The power supply is disconnected from the vehicle.

Disconnecting the positive or negative supply for a capacitor will also allow it to drain.

Ohhh, don't do that.

While it is unlikely anything would happen, I've been told that some vehicles could see this as a collision and set the air bags off.

Just disconnect one of the cables, I usually do the negative, but not always, and leave it off for about 5 minutes. It really shouldn't take more than a couple seconds to clear any soft codes, but if you want to be sure than 5 minutes is way more than long enough.

Thanks I'm starting to think that short did damage this time

What I hate is that the dealer said they checked everything and said it was fine.
gotta love the 70k bumper to bumper warranty

Yeah! My airbag light is on as well. I have to tear into it to yank the heater core today anyway so I will surely try to nail down a few of the other problems along with it. I have a constant door ajar light on and was told the drivers kick panel is where that problem usually arises. We will see.

90% of the time in a Chrysler product, air bag light is caused by a worn clock spring. Replace it...
