Thumbs down

Ethonol blended fuels will give you less MPG's, 2-10 percent less. If I put in 10% ethonol blend i get 15.8 MPG if I use none blend i get 16.9. I use a half tank of none ethonol fuel a week for gas where as I go through 3/4 of a tank of blended fuels. I also use 87 octane in my Dak (owners manual also states not to use anything higher than 87)

I can agree cheap gas makes these trucks suck at fuel mileage...

FYI- Most probably dont know. H.O. 4.7 are different, it recommends 91 octane. This is straight from the 2006 owners manual.

Just an FYI, most of us are running tuners which void the manufacturer's recommendations in which the tuner rules the recommendations... that's why most of the us are running 91 or greater octane because the specific tune recommends it.

Gentleman, take into consideration that lower octane fuels are more efficient. The greater the octane value, the more energy is required to combust the fuel. Out here in Colorado, we don't even have 93 oct. 91 is our premium, 87 is our midgrade, 85 is regular (not to be confused with E85), based on the lowest altitude for Colorado. I run 85 octane in the dak and even with the lift, meats, CAI, and e-fan, I get 20 on the highway, and around 17 in town. Keep in mind, I have a 6-speed and typically drive conservatively. When the Talon comes out and we go to the track....well, thats a whole nother story. On E85, the Talon gets somewhere around 16 in-town. At the track....I seem to recall about a half a mile to the gallon.
