Speaker sizes????
I have an '05 SLT, and was wondering about the speaker sizes in the doors. I'm changing them out, and need the spec so I know what to shop for. Thanks.[sm=americanasmiley.gif]
I just got a 05 Slt Dakota and I was curious about the speaker sizes as well. I believe they are 6.5 in front and back. I want to upgrade mine as soon as possible. I am leaning towards Polk's or Boston Acoustic. What do you guys think?
I would put new speakers in but anything good like boston or polk would require a decent amp to power them up properly and i cannot find anywhere in my truck to fit a decent amp into. Usually can go under a seat or soemthing but there is no room. I did do a radio swap (transferred my orginal single disc to the OEM 6 disc/mp3...you can find em on ebay cheap
) and theres no room back there from what it looks like either.
So do Polk/bostons sound good? yes...but only if you have an amp...
Is there anywhere to put an amp that will look clean? well unless you have the crew cab...no...at least nowhere i have found...maybe someone can help me out?

I found out they are 6.5". I'm going to do a Infinity Kappa Component system. 6.5 woofers in the doors, w/ silk dome tweeters on the dash. Then I'm going to push the entire thing with a Pioneer Mosfet 800w amp. Should be sweet.
Let me know how those Infinities components work out for you. I am going to put components in the front doors and regular 6.5's in the back. Where are you going to mount the tweeters at? Are you putting the amp under the passenger seat or in the back?
Infinity's after-market speakers are 20 times better then what came in the DCX vehicles. Boston is definitely a decent choice.

I'm sure the infinity's will sound great. I might get the perfects instead of te kappas I'm mounting the tweeters on the dash right above the vent at an angle mount. The amp will go under the passenger side rear seat. Unless I can get the seat out then I'll mouht it to the wall behind it to keep the little storage we have. I might even get 2 comp systems and do the same for the rear, but place the tweeters flush mount in the door.
