If you plan on keeping the truck for awhile, I would recommend investing in a superchips tuner. They read/clear codes as well as providing tuning capabilities for your truck (if you have a V8?). Best bang for the buck mod I made to my truck...so far...If I did not say so before, welcome to the DF 3rd gen Dakota section. This place rocks!

I picked up this little reader http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EVYGQY and it was the best $50 I spent.

I brought it to check out a code on my wifes Expedition and it saved me a good little chunk of change since I resolved the code by replacing the PCV valve and an airfilter.

Also I have used it on 2 of my buddies car/truck since I got it. I ended up with a 12 pack of Fat Tire and a nice bottle of wine
