Lol I dunno if "hat" is the technical term but that's what I call it.
Do you know what intensity light you're going with for the HIDs?

Mine are 5000k HIDs which are a bright white, but there is 3000k which is yellow, 6000k which is like a blue, 8000k which is more purple.

they are 8000k, which is blue-ish...10000k and 12000k are the purple ones..here's another question....can you just swap bulbs out on HID's? say I end up not liking 8000k and want 6000k, can I just replace the bulbs?

You should just be able to swap them, as long as they are from the same company.
Only thing is out of an entire HID package (ballasts, bulbs, wiring, etc.) the bulb is probably the most expensive part.

x2 on swapping the bulbs. also 8000k are not purple. neither are 10,000 or 12,000. those are extremely blue. in my sig, is my dakota with 8000k. with a slight blue tinge to it. we installed 12000 in my buddies lancer gt and they were very blue. looked awesome!

got the off ebay for $5. A Ram guy had them on his truck and he sold the truck. It's a nice set, heavy duty ballasts and relays as well.
