Wow that's a crappy deal man. NJ just dropped the inspections recently, emissions only now.

we still do "safety inspections"..they charged me $10 extra because of the 35% tint I installed on the front driver and passenger side windows...PLUS we have to pay an additional $7 for a sticker that does not exist...lol

The inspection record states, "Brake Lights...........Pass/Fail"...so if it is a light that comes on with the brakes it is considered a brake light and "painting over" (or in my case, 3 coats of night shade) caused it to fail. I removed the night shade last night and had it successfully re-inspected today. then the d@mn place lost my registration!!

what if you take out the third brake light while ur there?

They it wont be equiped??

It will be considered equiped but non-functioning. I'm from NC orginally but here in FL for the US Coast Guard. All I have to do is call the DMV in Raleigh and tell them that and it is waived for another year.

Correct, and it would still fail. Just like if a bulb was out in a taillight.
