This is probably too late to mention, but you should be aware. Any time you drop a spark plug, you inspect it and verify gap before threading back into the head. Look for any dust, dirt, oil that might have found its way onto the pug. Verify gap. Inspect the porcelean for chips and such. Some of you might think this is overkill, but there is no valid reason why you should not do the above.

sound advise. i get paranoid if I dont hit the spark plug hole square, kinda hard to do on our trucks...but on other cars I've had....i always recheck the gap if I dont get it threaded in perfect the first time....

Thanks again for the further advice. I was using my spark plug socket, but now that I looked at it closer it really looks worn inside especially the rubber casket inside. Have fun in your Dakota's guys, I always do...

I mixed a batch of JB Weld and permanently attached a 6" extention to my spark plug socket. Gives me total control of plug position and after its installed, when I pull up on the extention, the socket always comes with it.

I experienced that problem with the race car as well. I just welded the socket to the extension.

i've never seemed to lose the socket, but my snap on 3/8 flex head works well for getting the angle
