Default Cai on 2011

After reading the CAI poll, I decided to install a K&N kit on my 2011 4.7 as my first performance upgrade . When I went to order one I found that the 2011 was not listed in the catalog only the 63-1546 for the 2010. I called K&N and they stated that they had not done a fitment on the 2011 yet and would not recommend this kit until they had tested it.

I know the 2010 and 2011 Dakota's are *******ly identical and assume this kit will fit. Has anyone installed this kit on a 2011 and had any difficulties with the install? If you installed this kit, how did you feel about the performance and was there any increase in mileage? Thanks.

I'm sure it will fit just fine.

On my 08 (same engine as yours) it gave a slight increase in performance, the biggest thing you notice is the noise. It sounds like an old school 4bbl carb when you get on it.

No increase in mileage was noticed.

The biggest bang for the buck was the superchips tuner so far. Using the premium gas tune I notice 1 - 1.5 mpg gain driving to work compared to stock.

+1 on the Superchips!

The intake on my 05 4.7 didnt do much except for add noise. The $300 would be much better spent on a tuner if you are looking for the biggest performance increase without sticking alot of money in to the truck.

A superchips tuner would be the best bang for your buck. I think on the 08+ its almost 50hp.

You can always get a cheap ebay cai for ~$30.00 that works about as good as a $300.00 k&n as long as your moving.

They make superchips for 2010, so I would assume 2011 would work also.

I am pissed that they made a 93 octane tune for the 2008+ engine

Normally when you have a new model year vehical they will have you plug the tuner in the vehical, it will download your PCM info, and when you plug it back in to the computer it will send the info to superchips and they will get you a tune normally in a couple days. You could try calling there and see what they say. Their website is www.superchips.com
