Default straight axle conversion

i know at one point in time the Dakota had a straight axle. my question is would we be able to swap the IFS in the 3rd gen for the straight axle out of a 2nd or 1st, how much effort would it take, and what am i looking at cost wise? oh and if there is a thread already on this im sure no one will hesitate to repost it.
Thanks guys

I have a thread somewhat on this topic. Two options I think for SAS. Leafs or coils. Me, I plan on doing a cherokee front suspension 4 point setup swap. Should only cost me the donor cherokee and about $100 - $200 more in misc parts and accessories. Check my link out. Others have good advice on it as well.

The Dakota never came with a straight axle from the factory!

Dakotas have always been IFS - previous generations used torsion bars, current ones use coils-over-shocks. The last light duty solid axle Dodge was the Gen 2 1500's 4x4's.
