Default 06 3.7 horrible at towing

So I have a 3.7 quad cab and I am getting really frustrated with this truck. I was towing a waverunner going up hill and the truck seemed like it was about to stall in the middle of the hill, it was struggling pretty bad. My friend on the other hand with a 4 banger jeep towed another waverunner no problem up the hill. It seems like my truck isn't downshifting when its suppose to. What could be wrong with it? the auto tranny has some of the worst shift points. Usually with normal driving I have issues with it revving at 1800 rpms then I slight give it gas and it jumps up to 3k. I'm almost to the point where I just want to get rid of this truck.

Did you push the button on the end of the shifter to turn off the o/d?

I will agree the stock shift for the trans is ridiculous. If someone ever comes out with trans tuning for the 3.7 you should really look into it.

Not sure what truck year you have, but I know the dealership has some updates for the transmission due to lack of up hill power.

I know what yer talkin about. When i took my old truck up to colorado, it was havin hell tryin to get up and down the mountains. had to have it in 2nd or 1st (it was auto too) just to get up the hill. But that same truck had enough ***** (and some to spare) to haul some farm macheriny arround here in KS, but that was just flat ground.

If your being serious I'm going to take my 06 3.7l up there... I HATE going up hills, even the little ones bog the truck down to the point it sounds like it wants to stall...

I knew I remember seeing something about hill climb, yet it was for reverse.

Yep I see it for my 06 too. Now can I call the dealer and ask them about it or how should I go about it?

Sorry for the thread jack OP!
