Hey everyone,

Just purchased an 05 dakota with 25k on the odo. Nothin special, just the base model. No power locks or power windows. It has the V6, I doubt I will be doing any towing, but will get plenty of use hauling stuff around.

I have a few questions.
1. The tint on the extended door windows, im assuming it comes stock. Is it 15% tint? I will be tinting the others and id like to match it. I remember the ram I use to have came with 15% on the back window.

2.Since I dont have power locks, is it possible for me to ever have keyless entry?

3.Are there any Dakota models that have an overhead console, or something that holds sunglasses etc?

go after market alarm remote start door locks and you can tint over oem tint in the back windows it will be dark looks good i did it to my four door ram and tinted the front windows 5%

 

welcome to df, like jose said you would need an aftermarket alarm system and yes some models do have an overhead console. They have an lcd display that shows temperature and has a compass. pretty sure there is a sunglass holder on it too? not sure though, i dont have one. Nice looking truck though man, i always liked the mineral grey

 

welcome to the club. you can get power door lock kits almost anywhere. Check your laws on tinting before you go too dark on the fronts. I can only go 20% on my fronts and still be legal. I believe 15% is standard on the rears. I don't think any third gens had an overs overhead with a sunglasses holder, but I think second gens may have had one?

 

I saw that 2nd gen had em, and I saw a picture on an 07 that I thought had one but not sure. I was thinking about getting one from a Ram or a dakota if I could find one and put it on mine.

My tint guy measured the factory tint at 22% IIRC. He ended up putting 20% on my front windows (which was slightly darker) but it ended up turning out just fine. Only on an angle in low light can you see a difference between the tint.

 

Nice, and really low mileage, nice find. On my overhead console, there is not a holder or cubby for sunglasses, just an electronic display and some lights. Welcome aboard.
