Default Engine Swap Question

I am looking to swap my 4.7 V8 for something larger. I was thinking at least a 5.2 or a 5.9 (figured it could fit because the older dakotas used to have that option).

In the near future I am going to be deploying and obviously won't be driving her for awhile. I figured with this in mind I would be in a good position to find someone to buy my engine to offset the cost of a different one.

This leads me to a couple questions:

1. Without getting too complicated, what kind of modifications would you have to consider when putting in a larger engine? (like mounts, moving things around for it to fit, compatibility with tranny, etc)

2. If I am gonna do this, are there any advantages or disadvantages when choosing between the 5.2 and the 5.9? Obviously, the 5.9 is gonna gimme more ponies, but other than price, is there a lot more work to getting one that big to fit, where sticking with a 5.2 would make things simpler?

3. If I was to put my 4.7 up for sale (its got 93K miles) what do you think a reasonable asking price would be?

Thanks for any and all input!

well if you had a 2G with the 3.9 and wanted to swap to the 36o thats easy but the 4.7 uses a different trans than the mangums. so you will need a new trans. stock a 4.7 makes pretty much identical hp as a 5.2

sell your 3G and get a r/t or just mod the 4.7

or get a 5.7, uses the same trans. but swapping a 360 for you 4.7 is dumb

Thanks for the input. I'll have to look into a 5.7, but main reason I'm debating is like you said about just modding the 4.7, and if I'm looking at well over 2 grand for the swap I'm also thinking that 2 grand in mods on my current engine will gimme more in the end in overall performance, what say you?

Why not get some h.o. cams, headers, exaust, fastman tb, and a sct tune? It wilk be easier than a full engine swap.

Overall performance is my goal. I found a guy that can do labor on the low side. Working out a deal, since I'm gonna be gone for a while, that he uses my truck for filler when he doesn't have much other business.

I want to get a list together of all the stuff I want done, so while I'm gone I can shop around and get the best deals on stuff and have him work on it, so when i get back she is ready to burn up some pavement.

I have a magnaflow exhause already, but if I'm doin all this I am for sure gonna go with a true dual exhaust, maybe an x-pipe.
