Default stereo gurus need help!

ok so i just put in a new head unit into my truck with one of those easy connectors that you dont have to cut into you stock wiring, and when i plug everything in i notice a blue light come on for the headunit but the screen wont turn on. tried resetting it, nothing. any ideas wtf could be wrong i already sent back the same head unit for the exact problem. checked the ground thats fine. any ideas whats wrong here?
heres the unit i bought,

im going to be trying tomorrow running a wire straight from the battery to the unit and see if that works. im pretty much lost at this point.

I believe the power wire going to the head unit is always hot, and then there is a wire that tells the radio when the ignition is on. Sorry, I don't know the technical terms, but that may be a start to figuring out what the problem is. I assume the blue light is always on, regardless of the ignition?

No the blue light only comes on when powered or the unit is reset. Those 2 wires you are talking about are the battery and ignition. Both hooked up correctly

I'm guessing the harness you bought isn't giving you a switched power source to indicate to the radio that the truck is on (stock unit gets a signal for this over the CAN-BUS if I remember correctly). Take a look at this thread, specifically Eric's and Monkey's suggestions: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...head-unit.html

Interesting. So is the entire harness crap? Running power off the cig lighter is no problem. The unit does get power tho, my guess is it just doesn't get enough.

The one with the white stripe. Atleast I believe mine had a white stripe on it. Solid colors should always be ground when the hot has a stripe.
