I'm with regnath on this one. Yes it could have been an isolated incident but they should have done somerhing to correct it other than give this man the run around

Bobby is right on this one. He did his part by eliminating all possabilitys of his vehicle being the problem. At the very least fastman could have offered an exchange.

As a manager of an auto parts store in a small town I know how poor customer service to one customer travels faster and farther than great service to 10 customers. My customers have 17 other parts stores to buy from. I thank every one of them who spend their hard earned at my store because if I dont I may loose more than I gain.

Thanks guys.

Like I said, I would never call out a company that attempted to help me fix the problem. Fastman has provided throttle bodies to many of us with no problems at all, but I feel that its fair to tell everyone about the problems some of us have had. Myself, Jkeaton, Lghtnbolt, and SnipingDude have all had this idle issue and it was never fixed. Now I had a throttle body ported by BwDakRt that gave me this exact issue, and I sent it to JusJay who has a 2003 Ram, and he had zero issues with it. Is it an issue with just Dakotas? Possibly? But that doesnt make it right to just ignore it.

And Ill agree with you Wingman. When I hear someone talking about customer service, its normally someone complaining. Seldom do you hear of excellent customer service, and I think it is because it is what we all expect. When we dont recieve it, we let everyone know.

you guys can add me to the list of the throttle body idle issues...
My Fastman TB has been in my truck since spring of '07, not once has my idle been stable.
I too found poor response from Dan Arcand, and eventually I just let it go, much to the joy (I'm sure) of the Fastman. I tried his remedy to fix the idle, I tried other things that many people have posted on this board, all to no avail.
I just don't care anymore...
P.S. - I kept my original TB, never sent it back for core - I suppose I could throw it back in again one day and have a regular idle once again

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Ronnus.

Unfortunatly everything I tried to fix the idle never worked. The one thing you could try is recentering the blade in the bore. My TB had a pretty big gap around the blade and I never got a chance to recenter it myself, but the guy that bought it said that couldve contributed to my problem and thats one of the first things he did to it. Youll want to loosen the screws holding the blade, snap it shut a few times, and tighten it back up. Do this if you can see light sneaking past the edges of the blade when you hold it up. Also check the idle adjustment screw located behind where the throttle cable connects. You can adjust it in and out to move the blade if it isnt at the right angle against the bore at idle.

As for the performance that the bored throttle bodies add, even the ones that give idle problems do make an awesome difference. I love just having to feather the throttle around the city, and it adds some nice power all across the board. With this one that works, I couldnt be happier.

Yep, Bobboh and Eric know my frustrations I had. I had a different Fastman that I purchased from another member of a different forum that was selling his truck and going to a hemi. Claimed he had no idle issues after I experienced the idle problems I had. I installed the TB, reset the computer and did everything I could think of to get my truck to learn this new TB, even some non-standard ideas posted on the net and I had the odd idle... up and down between 700-1200. It made me a crazier kid for a week, ask the wife... haha Anyways after a couple emails to Dan, he claimed it was my PCM needing to learn it. Superchips claims the PCM will learn as little as 30-50 miles, I even ran mine for 500 miles and no clearing up of the idle. I will admit, it had awesome pull, but I didnt like the varying idle. I sold mine to Ueland (straight up and honest) and I haven't asked if he figured it out or is having issues too.

Hipotek has my hope... as soon as I save up my pennies

Where has Ueland been!?! I havent even seen him on FB lately. Hopefully he didnt drive his truck off a cliff once he decided he would never be able to solve the fastman idle issue mystery.
