HiPoTek FTW!
So we all know the problems that I have had with Fastman throttle bodies. Some of us such as Billy and Kent have experienced first hand, the endless idle issues that these things can bring. Now, I'll be honest. I never call someone or something out unless I haven't had any success trying to confront the problem. Previously I had made several phone calls and wrote many detailed emails explaining to Dan the Fastman what problems I had with his machined throttle body. Every attempt I made ended with Dan stating that my truck needs to learn the idle of the new throttle body, and that 4.7l trucks can be very picky.
I drove my truck for thousands of miles with this erratic idle issue, that would occur every time I put the truck in park. My RPMs would bounce from 600 to 1500, back and forth, and it wouldn't stop until I restarted the truck. I figured maybe its my truck. I replaced every sensor, the throttle body gasket, hoses, and so on. Nothing fixed the problem. Did I mention how I reset the computer endless times? So I sent my throttle body to one of our own, Mr. Kent Eaton. What do you know? It does the same exact thing on his truck.
And guess what? Dan still thinks its in the engine/pcm and refuses to back up his work with an exchange. Can you say sh!tty customer service?
That P.O.S. Fastman throttle body is long gone, probably giving someone else issues. I put my stock one back on and never looked back, until Ruger had his Hipotek listed for sale. I had to know for myself, is it my truck or just Fastman? So I got the machined throttle body in the mail today, and Ill be honest, its not 100% "fastman quality." You can tell it was machined by someone, and it definitely doesn't look OEM. However, its buried in my engine bay so as long as it works, its all good. I put it on, did a reset, fired it up and my truck purrs like a kitten. Ive done WOT runs, pulling in to parking spots and throwing it in to park, revving it, and my idle is always at that 700 range. These HiPoTek throttle bodies are legit, and they will save you some dime compared to Fastman's throttle body that is just a little shinier. Too bad theres a chance that it will give you an erratic idle every time you put it in to park.
Never have I had worse customer service than from Dan. Even Recon Lighting pulled through when I had an issue with their product (and read some reviews on them). I feel bad for complaining, but when I have a problem, I expect it to be fixed and not ignored.
Dan Arcand,
I hope you get to read this one day. You product is pretty, but just because the majority of your throttle bodies work fine doesn't mean that one person won't have a problem eventually due to an error made on your behalf. Sorry you think you're so perfect.
Sincerely,
Robert from Wisconsin.
Sorry for venting everyone. Please take my advice with a grain of salt, and go with Hipotek!

I've never had a problem with anything I've purchased from Dan Arcand, and I'm sure it's in the thouands of dollars, I have one of his TB's on my 4.7 with over 90k no problem and I have a pair of his ported Eddys ready to go on my 408.

So you sold it...or what?
If you sold it, and you think Dan is a rip off, guess what?
