need a smoother ride and a lift
going to be commuting to college next month and i really want to switch out these crap stock struts and get a leveling kit while im at it. My 06 is a 4x4 so would this trailmaster kit http://www.streetsideauto.com/p/trai...-spring-dl223/ plus these ranchos or monroes work? http://www.streetsideauto.com/c/shoc...a-47l-285-cid/ Also if you look at the pics on the TM link that truck looks like it has additional lift other than just the 2" spacer..i may be wrong though. wouldnt mind the rough country 2.5 spacers either but iv read that thats dangerous to do on a 4x4 http://www.roughcountry.com/dodge_2w..._leveling.html
BASICALLY JUST LOOKING FOR OPINIONS AND ALSO PICS OF YOUR TRUCKS WITH JUST THE LEVELING KIT ON..NOT REALLY INTERESTED IN REAR BLOCKS DUE TO THE SAG ON THE FRONT END

You can tell by looking at the rear hitch in those photos that the trailmaster photos truck has a 3" body lift also. It is the same truck they use in the body lift section showing before and after.
Id go with the Ranchos and the TM 1.5" in-the-strut kit. Its a firm ride, but its comfortable and stable. Anyone that rides in my truck says that it doesn't ride like a truck at all. Im very happy with the overall ride, and the added look of the leveling kit is awesome. It gets that front frame crossmember off the ground and makes it look like a 4x4. For the rears, I put Monroes in shortly after I got the truck, and they are firm enough for me. Id probably do Ranchos next time. I think I just got an awesome deal when I ordered the Monroes, or I didn't have that much money. Lol. Im finishing up my last semester of college this May
I know just how hard it is to afford going to school and still have some fun with modding and fixing the truck.

Those are the correct part numbers, and where I ordered my Rancho's from. Don't go by those pictures at all, even the trailmaster kit that you get will look different. My kit was only an aluminum spacer, no black covering on it at all.
Here is mine with Ranchos and the same TM leveling kit.
Before the leveling kit.

TM 1.5" leveling kit installed.

And of course a newer picture.

thanks everybody! rengnath, I am actually going to Mass Bay Community College where i will be taking BMW manufacturer training. So by next summer i will be working at a dealership for co-op but being paid regularly. Dakotaff, your picture really shows the true difference with the leveling kit installed. Thanks. The TM link i posted is a 2" lift for some reason, and yeah that dak in the pic definitely has a bl plus level
The TM and the Ranchos should give you the ride you're looking for, here's a few older pics from when I still had the TM kit installed:

I wish I had a pic to show you right now but I did a 2-3 inch leveling kit on my 4x4 and it was an absolute pain in the *** to install. I had to extend the tortion bars a little too. It makes a huge difference though let me tell ya. The only problem with it that I have noticed is that whenever I go over hills fast enought to almost fully extend my front suspension the U-joints up in the front sub axles bind up and it is extremely bad for them if that happens. one way you can check if this happens is to jack up the front end so that your suspension is fully extended (after installing leveling kit that is) and to try to turn your wheels by hand. On my try my suspension extends too much and the knuckles of my font sub axles bind and on one side it binds so much that you can not spin the wheel freely. But when under a normal load they are not extedned enough to bind and so it is just fine. Just be careful on how far your suspension gets extended when driving at high speeds. You only have to worry when it gets extended fully. But again the only time I have noticed this is when I was going over what I like to call a "roller coaster" hill out where I live (in the middle of no where) very fast where it fully extended my suspension. Otherwise I love my leveling kit and I would fully recoment one to anyone. 3rd gens look soooooooo much better with that front end lifted up just slightly. They made it sit way too low stock and that I didnt like, it just looked weird.
