Default Tire size for 3" body lift of 2005 Dakota

I have a 2005 extended cab Dakota 4x4 with 4.7L. I just bought it and have lots planned but am working on a budget so I am doing things in stages. I need new tires on it but want to go bigger so am considering a 3" body lift. I have talked to people at a few off road shops that said 33s will work, but wanted to check with fellow Dak owners on this forum to confirm. Is it possible to go bigger? I can get an extra 2" of clearance with the 33s which is good but more is always better. I don't want to do any trimming FYI, so whatever will fit without tearing up fenders and bumpers. Running stock 17" rims.
Thanks!

Great! Thanks for the info. A little trimming to the mud flaps isn't so bad...

FYI PepBoys is having a Buy 3 get 1 free tire sale and I can't find anyone who talks bad about the Definity Dakota tires they have. I understand they are an off-brand of Cooper?

So if you think it'd be cool to have some quality tires that actually say Dakota on the side you might want to check them out.

I had definity dakota's on my last truck and was very pleased with them. They make an all season and an all terrain style. I would get them again bu the closest pep boys to me is 2 hours away now.

i have an o6 TRX4 with a 3in body lift and 2in front leveling kit and like coondog i am runnin 285/75/16's. they are Cooper Discoverer S/T. i had to do a little trimming to the inside corners of the front mud guards too, but nothing that took away from the outside view of the truck.

Yea I'll have to go 45 mins, but the combo of a quality tire for a good price with lots of good reviews plus the cool factor will have me making the trip when these 265/70/R16 General Grabbers, that I think the Mercedes dealer put on, wear out.
That will be a while though, they still have most of the mini rubber antenna's from the molding on the sides.

While I'm over there though I can hit up the A&W Drive-up Root-beer stand!
