Hey guys I've been going through about a liter of mobil 1 every 2500 km. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue? I want to throw a motor in it before my warranty expires but if this turns out to be normal I'll just live with it....oh yea it's a 07 4.7L HO..thx in advance
The factory determines what is normal consumption. It's probably something like a quart in 1000 miles. That would be worst case.
In my own experience, I don't loose any oil in 5000 miles.
I didn't start loosing oil in my 02 Dak 4.7 till over 110,000 miles/9 years of driving it, and it was just at the add line at the oil change, not needing an entire bottle. Definitely get it in the shop before your warranty is out.
open up your oil filler cap and see if there's sludge residue. It wouldn't hurt to have the PCV valve replaced, this could help dramatically if you have an excessive oil consumption problem. Worse case scenario (and this is not uncommon) is that your have piston compression rings that weren't properly lined up from the factory when the engine was assembled.
