Default 72 MPH Harmonica??? What's making this noise?

I've got a weird noise on my '05 quad cab RWD. As soon as I hit 72 MPH, I get a whistle/hum kind of noise that's like a harmonica. The note stays the same above 72. If I drop down, it tails off. If I turn on the wipers it stays, but if I mist the windshield it goes away until the water dries up, then goes away. I thought it was the wiper blade, but since it stays the same with the wipers on, I doubt it. Anyone else run into this? I'm having to keep it under 70!!

its the flux capasitor. your almost at the optimum speed of 88 miles per hour. all you need is the 1.21 giggawatts and you will be back to the future!

on a more serious note. try trying without the wipers on a sunny*day and see if that changes anything.

Have your windshield replaced recently? Sounds like the plastic molding is not sealed correctly and when your cleaning your windshield the water fills the cracks. Check around the windshield see of you can see anything loose

it could very well be the weather stripping around your windows too, are they rolling up all the way, I get a funny humm around 140 mph going down the highway, but when I let go of the steering wheel its still there

The plastic stripping around the windshield is all seated in place, but it doesn't attach to the windshield in any way and there's not much spring tension on it. I think that may be the problem. Is it supposed to be glued in place?

Noticed the same problem on my 05 this weekend and thought of this post. I don't drive on the highway much and noticed this noise every time I went over 75 mph. Mine sounded more like a slapping sound on the roof so I put my hand out the window and was feeling around and noticed the weatherstripping at the top middle of the windshield was flapping. I held it in place with my hand and the noise was gone.

I am planning to just glue it in place and was thinking some of that clear rubbery silicone sealant would work well. That way if I ever need to have the windshield replaced it will be easy to remove instead of epoxy or something.

We once replaced our windshield in our f150, and we noticed the same noise. We went back to the installer, and they didn't seal it properly in the first place. After they resealed, the noise disappeared.
