Default possibly looking for new tires.

well after last years horrible winter on the east coast i may need to upgrade from summer sport tires to a more all terrain or something along these lines.
anyone have any pictures of nitto grappler tires on there truck? i see they have them for 20s so id be interested in how aggressive they look. also looking for tires that arent going to kill my gas mileage either. any suggestions for a 265-50-20 would be great!

I was all set to get the Terra Grapplers, 265/50/20, but they weren't available anywhere when I ordered tires. They are a great choice in that size, not many A/T tires at all in that size. Biker-ahoy had them on his Dakota, but in 18's I think.

Maybe get yourself a set of winter wheels.

Yeah they look nice but I don't want anything too agressive that it makes my truck look like it belongs in a swamp. Also I dont really want to get winter wheels, I'd rather just slap them on my truck with the 20s. Mostly looking for a good all around tire that I can drive on highway, snow city and anything else that gets in my way without having to sacrifice mpgs. Last winter I got stuck a few times with my summer tires which I really dont want to happen again in 4wd.

Personally I'd rather swap between summer and winter sets. Until I got my new rims I always ran A/T tires and the difference in grip during spring/summer/fall with the Hankooks is monumental! I never want to go back to running all terrains year round again, not with the performance I get out of the summer sport tires.

You could also just use the same rims and switch the tires out, in my case I kept my factory wheels for winter use.

As far as All Terrains, I still think the BFG is one of the best. Hankook makes awesome tires as well. I have had very good experience with their Mud Terrain.

My buddy has those on his Chevy Colorado. Same size, Falken st/z 04's I believe (?). He loves them. I have ridden in his truck in winter, they don't have glue-like traction but he drives crazy lol. If you drive normal and don't mash the gas they are excellent and provide nice handling in snow hope this helps

Hymm, I've always thought dealing with changing out rims & tires year round would be annoying. But, now that I think about it, it wouldn't be that bad, gotta rotate tires anyway and I always do an oil change in October before the weather turns crappy, perfect time to add in a tire rotation.

For performance what do you gain beyond fantastic grip? I assume some Gas Mileage Improvement, is it a drastic improvement? Oh, also for the grip, are you talking a safer ride for rain storms and the like too?

I wouldn't want to swap tires on and off the rims, that costs too much (mount & balance), plus possible damage to your nice wheels. I've been swapping my 20's with my old 16's with all season Goodyears (RT/S) for the last few winters. This year I have actual snow tires, 17" Firestone Winterforce, for the first time ever. I can't wait to see how these things handle the snow.

Changing the wheels is no problem at all. The only problem with swapping wheels is having the extra room for an extra set of wheels.

I'm really tired today. I didn't mean changing out tires on the rims 2x a year.

I was trying to say I can see how it might be worth it to get another set of rims and put tires one 'em and swap them out seasonally.
