Don't get the locking bolts! I was gonna get them from Moe's and Marty when he was running KRC Performance talked me out of them. He said that they are a no-no with an aluminum block. There has to be some give from normal vibration somewhere and if the bolts don't give and loosen slightly then the soft aluminum threads are what goes. He had seen it multiple times.

It made perfect sense to me and I'd rather re-torque bolts a couple times a year than have to have the manifold's re-threaded. Besides, I check mine about every 5k miles (oil change time) and the most I've ever had to do was turn a couple of them maybe a quarter turn, topps...

I am using the locks for over a year, no issues. Of course, some of them are not completely tight because I was lazy and did not want to grind down the stops to make them fit right

So...bolts in aluminium should never be tight? Sorry, I don't see it.

normal install procedure for headers on an aluminum block are to torque then heat up engine to normal operating temp then retorque to spec while hot. locking bolts should never be used on an aluminum block. those threads are very soft, i've seen fellow techs at the dealership where i worked strip them out just trying to got a broken manifold off or over torqing the bolts putting one on.
