Default Locking Gas Cap

Anyone ever find one that actually works on our trucks (05-07 at least) that does not trigger the CEL? I really want one but have read they are nothing but trouble.

are you worried about people stealing your cap, or your gas?

I wouldn't worry about the gas too much. there is a metal screen and a bar in the fill tube to keep people from siphoning.

There has been a rash of vandalism in our neighborhood lately. People pouring crap into gas tanks. I usually park in the garage but sometimes can't...just a security measure.

Mine started throwing the code a few weeks ago on stock cap. I reset the computer and cleaned the o-ring hoping it was just a one-time thing, but it came back. I havent been ambitious about fixing it yet, but I just discovered it kills the autostart. Cant have that with winter coming up. If anyone has any troubleshooting tips, I'd be grateful.

I bought one from Advanced Auto the day I picked up my truck. So far no issues ever!

I should say in the winter I did have problems with a little bit of ice in the key hole, but it was around zero too. I have since fixed that issue.

You can get a locking door for $100 off of ebay. Chrome or black.

This may be what you want, not sure if you can pick it up at a local store cheaper.
