4x4 question.
Another thing slightly wrong, I just got the transfer case replaced due to the cv joint busting out and cracking my old one. It finally rained down here in Texas so I took the opportunity to test it out and the truck shifts into 4LOCK just fine but when I go to switch it back 2WD it stays in 4WD until I get up to about 20Mph then shifts out real hard. I was just wonder if its something I can fix or if its something the shop did wrong that would cause this. This transfer case is brand new, never been on another truck.
Does not sound right. There is a slight delay while the transfer case shifts, but it should not have to be driven at all to shift. If you open your door, shift it into 4wd you should hear it shift. Shift it back into 2wd and see if it shifts back the other way. If it does, then something may be sticking and when you get up to 20 it lets loose. If it doesn't it could be some kind of control issue.
I was wondering if it was because its brand new and needs to be used a bit or if it's something wrong.
Well did what you said and I can hear it shift into and out of 4WD. So something must be sticking.

Mine will occasionally stick into 4wd... its not an all the time just every now and again, and its only stuck for about maybe 25 ft. I only notice it because the front wheels start grabbing as I turn. Let me explain...
For instance, if I back into my yard I usually pop the truck into 4wd. Its only after the rear is the majority of the way into the yard. This is basically to get the front wheels over the curb and to keep the rear wheels from spinning the grass up and or to keep from ripping the front end up over the curb. Anyways... after I am done doing what I am doing, usually its hooking the trailer up, I pop the truck out of 4wd, go down over the curb and begin turning out onto the road. Not every time, but sometimes I can tell the hubs are still locked because the tires grab. When I straighten out the truck, the hubs I am pretty sure disengage because it no longer grabs at the next turn/intersection.
Either way, though if yours isn't disengaging relatively quick after you put it into 2wd, something isn't totally right.

Mine is always stuck in 4x4.....cause i got full-time. (it kinda sucks, but it has saved my tires a little (cant burn them))
When i had my last dakota and my Jeep, I ALWAYS did that when coming out of 4x4. It released the front and more importantly the rear end. It seemed like it locked up the rear end (kinda like posi-trac) when it was in 4x4, and released it when i backed up.
