Not much for ricers, but..
Tonight at the dragstrip, I saw an 1100-1200HP Honda Civic. I still cant believe you can take a 100hp car and do this with it. He was running 8.9 seconds. All turbo.
I also saw him break it, I though I was going to be sick. Split the block in two at the 1/8th mile mark.

Say what? Chevy's 2.2L Ecotec motor could support 1200hp(? I think) on stock internals. I know honda had a motor that was similar to it and the one you describe might be it. I would have been pi$$ed if I was him.
A 2.2 ecotec will not see anywhere near 1000 hp on stock internals. my best friend is running a 2.2 turbo SS cobalt thats maybe pushing 400 and its spun rod bearings twice...
At my 8th mile track, there is a b18c turbo civic that runs 6.90s his turbo is gigantic.

yeah, the turbo was huge, looked like 1/2 the size of the engine. Speaking of boost, it seems like there are alot of people on here who have done it. I dont see many talk about racing, though. I dont understand why you would spend the money on boost/hp if your not going to race it.

it may be certain years also. when they went to the turbo cobalts, the crank and bearings were changed. (or so I have been told)
The supercharged motors had "better" bottom ends.
As for racing... are we talking track or street? I dont visit the track all that often. (lol)
