Default adding rca out to factory radio

So I've been toying with the idea of opening my stock radio and tracing the output to before the internal amp and adding a line out for a sub

Before I let the magic smoke out has anyone done this before?does anyone have a non infinity aux input headunit they would like to donate to the cause...I could cover shipping but 75 on ebay is a lil much for a theory

Id need a 2010 style unit

that seems really complicated, i added a preamp out to my factory head unit using what i think they call a "RF MODULE." or maybe "RF INVERTER" its a little blue box that i have only found for sale at walmart and meijer. But it just splices into the harness right behind the radio and in about an hour you have rca out puts for about 10 bucks. i have been using this for alittle over a year now with no problems

i have been searching online and cant find one to sho you. but just go look around one of those stores in their cheap DIY radio section and you'll find it

maybe someone on here can help me out

That's called a line out converter...it doesn't sound as good as a preamp out....tends to muddy up a bass roll

I just like the look of a factory headunit or id be outting in an alpine

I did it on my last 06 dak. It's a line output converter (loc). YOu can buy at bestbuy for about 30 or online for 10. Took me about an hour. I pulled the diagram specs off of crutchfield.com. You need to know the colors of your rear speakers as that's what you splice into.

Iirc it wasn't easy to connect the amp to a switched power so I bought a switch and hooked it up directly to thebatteryvia the fuse block. If I wanted my subs on I would just hit the switch I installed (under my dash). I liked the look of the factory deck, but it's definitely not as good as an aftermarket bc you don't get many eq adjustments on the stock deck.

Good luck.

Ah, after re reading you want to find the feed before it hits the internal amp...hmm, I haven't opened up a stock deck. If you do it post pics. That would be an interesting write up.

Not sure if you'd be interested in this or not, but I found it when I was thinking about adding a sub:

PAC makes one that works with the standard radio (no premium system or amp) I know this because I'm running one, and yes it fits nicely behind the radio.

I also went a step further and added a bass control **** (also made by PAC) and installed it in that useless pocket (next to the 4wd selector in the center of the dash) it took a little trimming but fit in there perfectly so I can keep the amp turned up a bit, and control my level directly from the dash.

So what you got actually gets the signal preamp...bass/trebble doesn't adjust the amp...or is it a highlevel converter? If the preamp signals are in the harness what are the wires?...does the bass control *** go inline too?
