Default '05 Power Oulet - Making it always on

My '05 power outlet in the dash, under the a/c controls, is only hot when the truck is on. I'd like to make that hot all the time to charge my iPhone.

Is there a preferred wire to use back there somewhere?

I'd like to just cut off the one that feeds it now, and tap into a perma-hot wire.

Yeah. Open you fuse box under the hood. Drivers side behind the battery. It's a black plastic box. The black cap of the fuse box contains the legend for the fuses. There's a switchable fuse for this purpose. Locate that fuse, switchable auxiliary 12v or something similar, and move it over. Hope that helps.

In my truck, the 08 Dak SXT, the centre console has an outlet which is already hot all the time, that also has a cellphone holder that flips out. Thats the one I use.

Mine is doing int the other way. The fuse is inline with the others to make it hot all the time.

Either way, IT WORKS!!!

I'm sure glad that I asked here before cutting wires.
