these trucks weigh a ton with a small displacement v8. nothing short of a big block swap will make these trucks stupid fast...

These "little" 4.7s can really wake up with some boost.

Whereas the superchips comes with "canned" tunes already installed, the sct has to have tunes programmed into it for your particular truck. sct tuners can tune more aggressively than superchips and the tunes are written based on the mods you have done. Mostly, from what I have read, it is more suited to those who have modded the engine with HO cams, headers, high flow cats, turbos, blowers, etc. More than just a CAI and low restriction exhaust. The sct does not allow transmission tuning as the superchips does. IMO, the superchips is the way to go for those of us who have not done anything to the engine besides CAI, bored tb, exhaust.

For example, I bought a set of 39# injectors for my truck. If I just threw them on, from what people tell me, it would just be dumping in more fuel that needed, so I would need a custom tune (via sct) to run with these injectors. I think the cost between the sct tuner and superchips tuner is about the same? but then you pay extra for the tunes that hemifever writes. I wish he would get on here sometime and explain what his can do versus superchips and maybe he would convert me, but for now, I like the trans tuning option to much to give that up. I just cant stand the thought of going back to the crappy factory shift schedule...

Does anyone know if it is possible to somehow combine both; Superchips for the trans tuning and SCT for everything else? I have seen this asked before, but can't find the thread and don't recall the answer. I haven't got into tuning yet but hope to soon. I agree with jkeaton in regards to the stock shift schedules. I wonder why SCT can't do the trans.

Well, the only things I've done is the CAI, the bored out throttle body, and put a Flowmaster 40 series.

So far...

I have had a shift kit installed, with the transmission rebuild, so maybe the SCT won't help much, but the SC would.
