Alternator question
Does anybody know if they make a higher amperage alternator for our trucks? I think my sound system is draining my battery faster than the alternator can charge it.
Also, could it potentially cause problems to use a higher amperage alternator?
Thanks in advance.

Alright, looks like some Durangos had 160 amp alternators. I guess at work tomorrow I'll pull each off the shelf and compare them to see if they mount the same.
Would there be any issues with putting the bigger alternator on my truck?

It will only overwork it if you are constantly driving at higher rpm's, 5000 or higher. Everyday driving and you will be fine
Well, guys, today at work (NAPA) I looked up an alternator for like an 02 Durango with a 4.7. It is a 160 amp alternator as mine is 136. From looking at all the pics, it looks as if they both mount the same way. I think that could be a possibility? And by the way thanks for all your help! I think the smaller pulley may be the way to go money wise! I'll see how it goes.
