Default Wire through the firewall

I just read a thread yesterday about putting a wire through the grommet that the hood release cable goes through but of course I can't find that thread anymore. Well last night I tried to poke through that grommet and I wasn't able to. The thread that I read didn't have a clutch peddle in the way of the grommet so it was much easier for them. I was still able to poke through it but it stops about 2" deep into the hole and I can't see anything poke out of the firewall under the hood. Any advice on this?

I ran my wires into the drivers side fender from the hood. It will come out at the door hinges and then you can go in through a grommet there. I had a hole not being used for anything. Much easier than trying to go though the firewall

Hmmm... wonder why I didn't think of that. I will check the grommets in that area when I get home. Thanks

Does that go through the black foam block that's in the fender?

Mine didn't have a foam block but it had a thin foam sheet near the door jam. I'm assuming that's what u mean. You could run the wire over the top of the foam if you wanted to but I went down (inside the fendor) and through the foam so that the wire came out right near the grommet to avoid as much outside exposure as possible on the wire. If I went over the foam, I would have had about a foot of wire running down the door jam (also more chance of a short over time). I'll take some pics later (I'm at work now).

I couldn't get mine through the hood release cable grommet either, so I just drilled a hole through the plastic clutch plate and ran them through there. I don't know if that would work on a manual though.

Interesting... Can you take a pic? I still need to find another way to run wires from the cab to the engine compartment because I'm installing an alarm and it wouldn't be very effective if the thief could just easily cut the wires in the door jam Not that they won't be able to cut the wires elsewhere too but it would just be too easy at the door jam.

Here's How I put mine through the fendor. It works great for any accessories (CB, inverter, sub, or whatever else) but I don't want to wire my alarm into this feed cuz it would be way to easy for a thief to cut (disabling the alarm). So I still need to find a way through the firewall or somewhere else to the engine compartment.

I think the best way is probably still through the grommet where the hood release cable goes through so I'm gonna keep trying there unless anyone has any better ideas. I'll post it if I find anything to make it easier.
