Well the idea of a throttle body spacer is to create a "vortex" with the air to create better combustion and more air .... but obviously theres alot more in the way after the throttle body that wouldnt allow for this.
I have the Air raid throttlebody on my 2004 ram 1500 with the 4.7, same engine i believe, and it works wonders with about a 15hp increase if I remember the testing, as well as -2 or -3 mpg.
Modern fuel injectors atomize the fuel unlike Carbs which relied on air suction created by air traveling through the intake to draw fuel. Some benefit could still be attained in TBI (Throttle Body Injection) systems because fuel was injected directly into the throttle body but about every engine designed since the mid 90's have the injectors on the fuel rail - WAY after ANY benefit from a throttle body spacer would be realized.
A throttle body spacer producing more HP or greater fuel economy on an engine with a fuel rail is about as scientifically possible as my fat a$$ being able to walk on water...
