Default 2008 4.7L Dakota SLT won't crank

Looking for help please? After washing/drying in driveway, started her up to park in garage and realized I'd not finished unpacking from the trip just finished, so shut it off and unloaded everything. only took about 10 minutes, couple suitcases is all.
Went to start and it won't crank. All lights/electrical seems normal, chimes, radio, etc. Tried both key fobs no help. Can lock/unlock with fobs.

When turn key to on, get 5 chimes, then all dash symbols eventually go away except for the MIL 'check engine', but believe that's normal.

Tried with battery charger/tester and also 80amp engine start on tester no luck. Took of cable terminals and cleaned, no help.

I'd read where possibly the negative ground is loose, but not sure where to look? Also possibly the battery is somehow needing to be replaced even though it seems fine?

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to DF! Check all your connections. Follow the ground wire and make sure where it is attached is not all rusted/corroded. If that is OK, and your sure the battery is good then I would suspect a starter problem, but, I have seen these trucks do funny things when the battery is not exactly what it should be. Can you try to jump it?

Thanks JK , I do see the Negative ground wire solidly connected to the frame.
I had checked the fuses last night, but obviously not very well with the flashlight. Turns out the fuse in socket 39 - 30A Starter Solenoid is blown. I grabbed the 30A fuse in 49 (Trailer Tow B) to try and get me to the store, but that blew also. I'm just now reading that the battery should be disconnected before 'servicing' but not sure that would cause it to blow?

sounds like a starter solenoid problem. See if you can get in there and knock the side of the starter or the solenoid with a hammer..

I'd suspect you got something wet that didn't like being wet.

Default Thanks again JK - found it, now just need to 'fix' it

Started tracing cables and found where the positive cable runs to the starter had rubbed and made contact with front-left wheel mount bracket. Bracket mount has a sharp point, must have finally rubbed enough to make contact. I'll open up the tubing and fix any damage.
It's a very tight cable, thinking I'll have to put some rubber tubing maybe on the sharp point and tie-wrap the electrical away from it somehow. Thanks again for all the help.
