okay hello everyone, im a new member on here, i dont own a dodge..do love the trucks but im here to help a friend.. there 2007 dodge dakota v8 6 speed.. is having some weird shifting issues..

first turning the truck on and driving it, it shifts decently okay..as you continue to drive..the pedal gets harder to push and almost grinding into gears.. throw out bearing is shot gots a howling sound.. but what could cause this thing to be so hard to shift?

side note: it was once serviced to have a slave cylinder changed out.. they also replaced the clutch.. they put the wrong clutch in and pretty much tried to make it work.. changed the clutch to the proper one.. and now its where it is as i said up above.. it sounds like the clutch disc but.. that would be hard to press in the pedal 100% of the time.. and to top it off.. 2 months after it getting fixed it drove perfeclty fine! no shifting problems.. now its just harder than hell to shift when driving.

welcome to DF! Let me see if I got this: 2 months ago the slave cylinder and clutch were changed, right? They "put the wrong clutch in", tried to make it work and ended up changing it again to the correct clutch and now you have the problems. Is this correct? But now the throw out bearing is shot? Was the throw out bearing replaced when they replaced the clutch? Normally the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing would all be changed at the same time....If it were me I would take it back to whoever did the work and make the fix it right....

If I was you I would be calling back the same people who put it in and make them fix what ever could possibly wrong. It's possible that by putting the wrong clutch in the first time caused premature wear on something else. Just my 2 cents.

PS was there any type of warranty with this service?

+1 if they put the wrong clutch in, I would make them tear out everything they did and redo it with fresh parts, including slave cylinder.

I think it could be any number of things considering what you have told us if we understand correctly. Only way to tell is tear it apart and see what kind of damage the "wrong clutch" did.

I'd take it back to the shop that did the work in the first place and demand it be fixed properly. As others have said putting the wrong clutch in could have caused harm to other parts.
