Well, I was gonna stick it out a little longer since they both still feel fine, but I now know what's next on the to-do list.

That's insane guys, I'm glad both of you and the passengers are ok.

I was noticing popping in the steering wheel. Didn't think twice about it being tie rod ends. We replaced both when the one failed.

Just replaced both of mine too. Nice to have quality, greasable tie rod ends.

Moog. I currently have non greasable ones because we had to get the truck going and only could afford the cheapest option.

Moogs from Rock Auto. I hear they might not be making them greaseable anymore so maybe I got old stock or something.

I know this has been thrown around a lot. Moog has two product lines, they have medium OEM replacement lines, and problem solver line.

I was on the phone a couple weeks back ordering parts and asked about this tie rod end confusion

Here is the deal straight from the snakes mouth.
(not exactly what they said but you know)

Moog currently only makes Problem solver tie rod ends for our truck, They are in the process of making Medium OEM line tie rod ends that are not greaseable for a cheaper price. But they will keep making the problem solver line.

Now what this means to me, most retail places will start stocking the cheaper version to reduce there overhead cost and you will have to special order the greaseable versions. Most people know that Moog is a good name and will start buying the non greaseable version because they are in stock.

They will have two different part #s so it will be easy to still find online.

Does anyone have the exact part number for the greasable version that they received?

Dodge/Chrysler is a broke company. They have no money and depend on Fiat to keep them alive. Fiat will pay out US union rates to build for only so long. As I write this there is no doubt that both Chrysler and GM are looking for another infusion. You and I may not be privy to this but you can make bet on it. Chrysler may use Moog or TRW etc. and they are given a choice on how much up the quality parts line they are willing to pay for. If they have to order bottom line because that is all they can afford to use then that is what you are experiencing with our trucks and other Dodge products. If you replace the parts then you will then have a choice the factory did not give you and that is buy the best you can afford via third party. I do not like what I'm seeing with tie rods, ball joints and sway bar links. These are scary pictures. The NTSB and Chrysler need to be aware without fail.

Dunno if the Daks use the same part but I have the Rancho greasable tie rod ends. Part number for a Ram is RS62614. Nice, beefy and oversized and have a Lifetime Warranty...
