Default CAI Needed on the 2005?

So looking at the airbox on the 2005 (v6, but I assume its the same on the v8) I noticed that it already seems to be a (relatively) high flow and it draws cold air from outside the engine box. My question is will there be a noticable gain difference in adding an entire CAI kit versus a simple high flow filter such as a K&N? And for those that have already installed the K&N filters or a similar filter, is there a noticeable difference in power/milage/sound?

I have the V6 and put in a K&N filter at about the 1,000 mile mark. Right off the bat I noticed a small difference in power and a great difference in the sound. It didn't seem to make any change in the mileage though. I still get horrible MPG the best I've gotten is about 16 with an average of around 14. It is a QC 4x4 but the mileage is just garbage...$46.00 to fill the tank yesterday. Should have went to the full size, mpg can't be much worse.

I think that the CAI is needed for the 05. I am going to definitely buy one next summer along with replacing the stock exhaust. I also heard that just taking out the resignators for the exhaust has made some gains where you want it most.

Where are the exhaust resonators and how do you remove them? Sorry if this is a stupid question...

I'd take it to an exhaust shop and have them remove them. That's what I'm probably going to do.

There is a resonator just below the "Y" pipe and another after the muffler.
