Default 3rd Generation 5th Wheel

Does anyone use a 5th Wheel Hitch on a 3rd Gen Dakota? I want to, but can't find a listing for a hitch that will fit. Is it because of the new full boxed frame? I have found kits for Dakotas up to 2004 but nothing for a 2005 or later.

Yes, a hitch for towing a light weight 5th wheel trailer. It is also called a goose neck.
Reese and Curt both make the 5th wheel hitch in a slider version for a short bed, but neither of them show an application for a 2005 or new Dakota. They do have them for the Dakotas 2004 and older. The hitch is always the same, but the rail set and brackets for attaching to the truck changes according to the specific truck.
Is there some reason the 3rd Gen Dakota cannot accommodate a 5th wheel hitch.

The one reason that the 3rd Gen can't accommodate many aftermarket accessories is because of its sales figures. From 104k units in 2005 to 10-13k each year from 2009 to 2011

I would just go to an RV/camper place. They should be able to look it up or call manufacturers to find a compatability.
