Default superchip for 4.7HO

Anyone use a superchip in a 4.7 High Output? Kind of wondering it it would give me any gains.

I'm a little skeptic, since I'm already running 91octane and tuned to that level other then shift points how do they justify that? I'm not a total gear head, but something doesn't smell right... So, other then the SC site, can someone give me a reasonable explanation why I would expect to gain 30hp with just plugging in a chip w/no increase in Octane?! I would love to think this is possible.

Dodge gives the truck an all around general tune for longevity, fuel effieciency, and other bs reasons. The superchips tuner, or any chip for that matter, changes things like A/F mixture, timing advance, and also tells the computer that conditions are ideal to give full power. The stock computer holds the motor back except for in perfect conditions when intake temp, pressure, moisture, and elevation are ideal, and even then it does nothing with the timing advance and other stuff that superchips changes.

SC is a reputable company, they're not just selling blinker fluid to us. It's those ebay vendors you gotta watch out for.

I was skeptical but popped the SC tuner in anyhow, mainly because I really had the feeling that my Dak was sluggish as hell for such a big motor. I am now a believer. I am not a "modder" except on motorbikes but I have never experienced such a dramatic performance improvement with a simple plug-and-play. Well worth the not-insignificant cost in my opinion.

Now as I'm poking along in the winter slush I don't need big tire-spinning power and awesome power-passing . . . so I am able to pocket some ka-ching by ratcheting back to the 87 tune and run 87 octane, and still enjoy a noticeable power increase over stock.

Highly recommend.

So I'm currently run 91 octane. Will I be able to run 87 with no lose of mpg? I can run it currently, but lose 2 mpg when I don't us 91. So far I've added K&N CAI and will add hipotek TB. Adding a chip would get me close to 300hp without any exhaust change.

i liked SCT vs Superchips. you have a long ways off for 300hp to the tire. im not even there yet, im close though.
