Dexcool is the orange, GM approved stuff, I heard it reacts to the green stuff too. If it mixes with red with no problems I'll just get that. I have a couple gallons left over from my s10 anyways.

I used the orange Dexcool for GM, I did a complete flush when I added my water pump. I have heard lots of negative things about the Dexcool, but after 2 years and no issues I have nothing bad to say about it.

Thanks for the info guys. This tax check the truck is getting upper and lower ball joints(moog greasable of course.) and front brakes. Man as soon as the truck hit 50k all hell broke loose on it. First the sway bar link broke then the ball joint(s).

Check your owner's manual, since the formula is more important than the color. Mine for 2006 says:
"Mixing of coolants other than specified (non-HOAT), may result in engine damage and decreased corrosion protection. If a non-HOAT coolant is introduced into the cooling system in an emergency, it should be replaced with the specified coolant as soon as possible.
Do not use plain water alone or alcohol base anti-freeze products. Do not use additional rust inhibitors or antirust products, as they may not be compatible with the radiator coolant and may plug the radiator.
This vehicle has not been designed for use with Propylene Glycol based coolants. Use of Propylene Glycol based coolants is not recommended."
In fact, Prestone makes a green Ethylene Glycol-based coolant (as original formula, not the color) that they say can be added to "any color" coolant. "Prestone® Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant is compatible with ANY antifreeze/coolant – regardless of color"
