Default Yet Another Overhead Console question

I have a 2011 Dakota Quad cab and want to add an overhead console trip computer. Anyone know what years will fit and is it a "plug and play"?

I added one to an older Voyager minivan and it was all plug and play. The wiring was all there to hook it up. Just make sure you get the outside temp sensor. I forgot and had to go back for it.

No idea if the Dakota would be the same. Wouldn't surprise me if it didn't since my truck didn't come with the wiring under the dash for a trailer brake controller.

05-11 should be functional and the wiring is tucked in there already..I just don't know where to get them and I think you have to trim to install it

You'll need to find an 05-11 overhead console from a junk yard. Make sure you get the bracket that mounts it to the roof, and the wiring harness that connects it to the can-bus located in the passenger side pillar. Technically, to avoid the computer throwing a code, you will have to get the option turned on at the dealer. I don't think it will throw a MIL-light though, the code will just be in the system.

Thanks everyone. The truck has the temperature sensor by the radiator support already. It's used to regulate the a/c in some way. I can also get a temperature display where the milage and tripmeter are displayed on the dash. You just push the button twice.

The owners manual does not have ANY information concerning the temperature display in the dashboard odometer readout area. It has a section for the overhead console mini-trip computer that describes the temperature display operation. Maybe the temperature can be seen in both areas? Any help from owners with newer Dakotas that can check this out for me?

Pull off the A-pillar cover on the passanger side. Halfway up, there should be a clip. On the bottom side, there should be a large cluster of wires going in to the clip, and on the other side of the clip there should only be 3 or 4 wires coming out. If you have this clip, a overhead unit should be plug and play.
