Default Looking at Add-a-Leafs

So, has anyone had experience with these on our trucks? Every kit I see does NOT come with U-bolts. I'm a little confused. Do these replace the overload spring? Or is it common to buy your own U-bolts with a set of Add-a-leafs?

I've put add-a-leafs on two of my previous trucks and was able to re-use the factory U-bolts. You should only need a longer centering pin, which came with both sets I bought.

I bagged my current truck and I can tell you that after doing air bags, I'll never do add-a-leafs again. Add-a-leafs suck (especially off-road) when you aren't hauling or towing...

I just bought a set. Longer up bolts not required. I'm going to do a write up when I install them.

I should also have said I've never done add-a-leafs (or bags for that matter) on anything but full size trucks, so whether you need longer U's on a Dak or the centering bolt I can't tell you for sure. My main reason for posting was to REALLY urge you to at least look into air bags...

U-bolts aren't all that expensive and can be acquired easily at any spring shop (you can even get custom add-a-leaf components there as well, just as cheap or cheaper as from any of the after-market suppliers) - just check out the local Yellow Pages (on-line or hard copy) if you don't know where one is. Things like U-bolts I replace if I didn't install them to begin with, whether they look good or not - to me it's cheap insurance. Other things I don't re-use are steering components that have non-replaceable joints, brake parts, any bolts that are under high torque, and clutch parts.
