Default Off road lights trouble shooting

Hey Guys !

Installed some cheap flood lights the other day and am having some trouble wiring them. Not sure if its my relay that is the problem or my wiring. So I have been wondering. If I have a 12 gauge in line fuse (10a) from the battery connected to a 14 gauge wire shooting to the relay, is this ok or should both ends be the same gauge (12 to 12/14 to 14)? I wired everything with the relay then had no luck. So i disconnected the relay and wired the lights straight to the switch with another line with an in-line fuse to the battery (+) but still no luck. Without the in-line fuse they work tho.

Are you sure you are wiring the relay correctly? Also its obviously not the relay if you wired it straight to the battery with the fuse and still got no power. I'd check to see if your connectors/solder to the fuse holder are good and of course make sure you have a good fuse.

Sounds like a bad fuse holder, or bad fuse?
Also wiring 12g to 14g should not cause a problem. Id just make sure they are the same metal (copper to copper, ect)

In the first pic they are working, so you know the lights work. Are you familiar with automotive wiring at all? Ever done this before? Before we can really help we need to know what your capabilities are. Do you have a multimeter? Is the fuse good? Do you have a good ground?

My guess is that you are shorting the circuit out someway when you hook them up.

Remember, power in AND power out. Do you have a good ground?

Actually no, havent done any wiring before. I believe it might be the fuse tho, have to test it out on the weekend. And yea its connected to an L bracket off the backrack. And yea im actually shooting the ground right back to the battery. Basc its set up like this : except the switched power from the switch is wired to the battery (+).

I have a 20 amp fuse from the relay and a 10amp from the switch. The lights are only 55 watts each btw.
