Default One more stupid exhaust question...

So I've finally decided that I'm going to go with a 14" Magnaflow muffler (single in/dual out). I was just wondering how some of you guys with a similar setup have gone about this. It looks as though most cat-back exhaust systems go with a 3" headpipe and a 2.5" tailpipe, although I have seen other configurations. What would you guys recommend? I just want to make sure I buy the right muffler and y-pipe combination.

I bought mine as a complete cat back kit. It was all 2-1/2" I think. So your getting a custom y-pipe or buying one separately? A cat back kit usually does not include a y pipe, could be mistaken, but I've not found one that does (for our trucks).

Yeah, I don't think I'm buying a whole system. I will most likely just take it to my local exhaust shop; the guy does great work for a decent price. I'm just going to provide the guy with a muffler and a y-pipe. But 2.5" you say? I'm afraid that I'll lose low end if I go with the 3" pipe.

there is no y-pipe that dosent come with cats. thats that.

if you find a good exhaust guy, he will make you a nice y pipe to fit your truck usually a little cheaper than the aftermarket built to fit setup. I went this rout, cuz it was more custom and i could place the 02 sensors were i wanted, only thing is its not all nice and coated....
