What temperature and what make? I had gone with a cheapy ($30) eBay kit and they worked flawlessly and then started blowing a fuse one day. I installed a relay harness and also had to replace the ballasts. Fortunately a friend had some old ballasts laying around so I didn't have to buy new ones but I was still disappointed. Honestly though, even with Sylvania halogens low beams and HID fogs you should be able to see damn well at night. I love my HIDs and will never go back!

That is what I run and you can see great AND if I can't see great my hella 700's with 55watt hid's in them are relayed off my high beams.

I got 3000k to start, I like the yellow light. I just got a cheapy set off ebay. no relays or anything. Someone on here said for the fogs you did not need a relay or capacitor. We shall see I guess.

has anyone actually noticed a difference between cheapy ones and actual expensive ones? or 35 and 55?

I think DDM tuning is better than Xentec which is what I got for my fogs. I was actually probably the one who said you didn't need a relay..they will work fine (plug and play). If they don't work at all just reverse the polarity on the ballasts and you should be good. For some reason, like I said, mine started blowing the fuse (20A). I put in a relay harness and switched the 20A inline fuse to a 30A and have them working perfectly now. Just be careful where you mount them guys. Don't take the sticky double sided tape and slab them near where you bolt up a tow hook. I have mine resting against those bumper support beams and zip-tied on there good. With the cheap ballasts, if they fall and the wires hang or they get physically damaged you will need to replace them. I recommend 35W kits unless it is an offroad light like ODXBeef's. All my ballasts are 35W and my friends all say my truck doesn't blind them at all. No one flashes at me either but I guarantee with a 55W kit there would be some unhappy drivers..
