Electric Brake Kit (P/N 56045795AB)
The harness for the Electric Brake Kit connects to blue connector under the inst panel left of steering column, near top of large connector bracket.
Circuit Function: (4 wires on harness)
ground-dark green w/ black trace
brake sense input(brake lights)-lite blue w/ white trace
trlr tow elec brake feed-lite blue
+12v (30A max) batt feed-white w/red trace

I'm going to assume that all wires from the harness are to go to your dash mounted brake controller (I've only seen one and didn't look at wiring) and that it intergrates into the trlr plugs. I have a 7 pin round and a 4 pin straight line. I always assumed the 4 pin was for trlr brakes. The wire colors on back of 4 pin are not the same colors as the wires on dash harness. I'm gonna have to suggest eyeballing the owners manual or the service manual for that trlr wiring.

Weird, never have noticed that wire on mine. Now I have to look...

The 7 Pin incorporates the reverse light option on trailers. Its the center pin.

The 4 pin is lights only, left, right, park, and ground.

The 7 pin is left, right, running lights, battery, reverse lights, brakes, and ground. The brake controller connection should match with the 7 pin.

Page 262 of your owners manuals has the configuration and what each pin is.

Well I was searching for a wire to splice I to for my third brake light on my new cap and I saw this wire. And I tested it out and that's exactly what its for. Just use that wire for your new third brake light.

Yep, same one I used. Much better than splicing into the brake lights.

Well... now I know before just wiring up what to me makes since (tapping into brake light wires) I should do little research. Would be a much easier and nicer install.

I'll have to see if my truck has this wire!

I've had the shell on for over a year and haven't hooked up the brake light yet....
