Default Rear transmission seal

Does the transmission fluid come out when it's removed? Also how difficult is it to remove the drive shaft?

I have a 4x4, so I was removing it from the transfer case, and no fluid came out. Removing it was not a big deal, 4 bolts on the rear pinion at the u-joint. Biggest PIA was removing those 4 little bolts that are lock tighted in. Due to the clearances, only a small box wrench would fit in there to turn the heads and they are on there tight! And I mean tight to the last thread, almost to the point your thinking they are cross threaded! But other than that is is not a difficult job.
