Default Superchip 3865, a couple of Q's......

I have read that it is $40 to download the trans tuning option. Is this manual tuning or can I set it to a preprogrammed set like 87 octane performance will it change the shifting?

The towing set............Do i need to change to this before I need to tow or can this be loaded with another set and the tow set will be in use when the tow/haul button is pressed?

The $40 download is if you would like to make custom shift schedules, manually. The tuner comes with a pre-programmed shift schedule that can be used with the different tunes. They just call it the superchips trans tuning. This trans option can not be adjusted in anyway, its either all or stock, under the specified tune. If you choose say the 87 tune you should have the option to pick stock or superchips for the trans settings. The quick tunes will not change it, iirc, you need to do the long install option.

The towing tune is a tune specifically formulated for towing. SC recommends against using the other tunes to tow with. Your Tow/Haul button will remain the same regardless of what tune you use.

Hopefully that explains it.

What program is best for gas mileage? I remember reading somewhere that the performance modes give better MPG than the mode for better mileage.

The 91 tune will give you slightly better fuel mileage, but the extra coin pretty much negates any benefit. I stick with the 87 tune.

Hey I'll guess I'll throw my own question in here.

Can the 3865 clear the check engine light if you wanted to "ignore" a certain code?

Yeah it does...but if you don't fix the problem the MIL will return shortly. But if your question was can it be used as a OBDII scan tool, then yes it is a universal scanner

I got the superchip uploaded today, I love that it doens't shift up when i'm going up a hill now. That drove me crazy!

I now have a few more Q's....

-Should I change the temp when the fan kicks on?

- What other setting should i change?

- Does the tow/haul button still work and is there any change to that mode? I notice it reccomends not to tow in the performance modes, is it ok if you switch to tow/haul?

- my temp sensor is not working now, it says 64F and is not changing. Not a big deal but wondered if anyone else had this issue.

Thanks again!
